Welcome to Elmore City, Oklahoma!
Founded with the establishment of a U.S. Post Office in Indian Territory in 1890 and incorporated as a town in 1898, Elmore City is proudly situated “where the Cross Timbers and rolling hills meet the Great Plains.” Thank you for visiting Elmore City!
Trivia: Did you know that the movie “Footloose” is based on events that took place in Elmore City in 1980. That’s right, our little town made the news worldwide when the ban on dancing was lifted, all due to the diligence and perseverance of the Class of 1981. Elmore City now holds their annual Footloose Festival the third Saturday in April. On display you will see a car show, arts and craft vendors, food vendors, and last but not least, citizens as well as visitors dancing in the street.
